This quarter we are reading novels like City of Ember, A Lion to Guard Us, Number the Stars, Fearless, and Sign of the Beaver. We are also working on book advertisements. We pick a book and then we make a little advertisement.  We also have book recommendations that we have on the classroom wall. There is also a 25 book check list we have to read 25 books by the end of the year and rate them. 

SCIENCE

In the first marking period, students are constructing roller coasters with certain criteria they must follow. They have been working on the process of brainstorming, then constructing, then modifying the coaster to make it the best. Students are working as a team to use certain materials to construct roller coasters, and there is certain criteria they must follow. Every group will test roller coasters and present a slide presentation to the class.

In writing this month, We are writing an inquiry piece. Students write about Fossil Fuels and the energy they have been studying on, Such as Hydropower, Solar, Nuclear, Biomass, and much more. Their goal is to write a inquiry piece that includes how Fossil fuels and the students energy On What it is, How it works, Cost, Environmental impact, and Efficiency. Now you might ask ¨How did they get this?”. Well, Students used various resources to get these facts, such as Ebooks and Articles. Hopefully, You got an Idea of What students are doing this month

SOCIAL STUDIES

In social studies students are learning about the Boston Tea  Party, although we have just started working on this we have already learned so much. Before learning about the Boston Tea Party we were learning about what happened before, during, and after the French and Indian war. Another thing we're learning about was the British and colonist interaction with each other and how that changed.
